Circus Puppets - Circus 250
Monday 14/05/2018 - Thursday 02/08/2018
In 1768 on a patch of land near London’s Waterloo, showman, equestrian rider and Staffordshire native Philip Astley drew out a circle in the ground and filled it with astounding physical acts, this was the beginning of what we now know as the circus. As the circus developed over the ensuing years so did the puppetry representations of it. The circuses individual and unusual acts together with its mx of unconventional characters and exotic animals lent itself to the puppet stage.
